After purchasing an apartment in a brand new modern development our clients wanted a beautiful, green outdoor space as quickly as possible.  This garden space provided many challenges such as the body corporate rule that nothing could be planted in the ground.  The apartment is also situated in an extremely urban environment open visually to the road and surrounding neighbourhood.  

The only option was for container gardening and in this case bigger was better.  Our design recommended a leafy, evergreen modern plant palette to be layered in oversized statement pots set against the fence to screen the outside environment.  Trees and large planting help give instant screening and will only improve with time.  Artificial turf was the right choice made by the clients for a space that is lower maintenance and looks green and vibrant all year.  For extra screening by the seating area we recommended vertical wires and planters with star jasmine which again, over time, will eventually help create privacy and a beautiful scented green wall.
